China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization(CECS) is a professional non-profit organization composed by individuals and institutions which is engaged in the field of standardization on a voluntary basis, and is registered in accordance with the law by Ministry of Civil Affairs as a nation-wide oriented legal society. Its operational activities are directly under the guidance and management of responsible institutions - Ministry of Construction and Ministry of Civil Affairs. The mission of CECS is to promote the development of standardization and related activities across the China. It was founded in October, 1979. It has been directly affiliated to the Ministry of Construction. CECS is consist of individual members and institutional members who are working in China's Engineering Construction Standardization sector. Up to date, there are 173 memebers of executive council and 58 members of standing executive council. The standing vice chairman of executive council is responsible for day to day operation. There are 37 expertise sub-committees named as TC1......TC37. Besides, seven more sub-committees are being prepared to establish named as TC38....TC44.

    CECS's main activities

1. To push for Engineering Construction Standardization(ECS) among ECS workers;
2. Entrusted by governmental departments to formulate and manage the engineering construction recommendatory standards;
3. To organize members for formulating, examining, propagandize and implement national compulsory standards, trade standards, and by-laws and conduct relevant scientific researches;
4. To assist enterprises to draw out enterprise's standards;
5. To organize and develop academic activities of ECS and training programs;
6. To develop and administrate information network of ECS;
7. To promulgate state ECS standard information announcement, compiling, publishing and issuing CECS's periodical "Engineering Construction Standardization" and other relevant standardization materials;
8. To protect members' rights and interests;
9. To providing ECS services for CECS's members, including ECS consulting services, developing certifications and recommendations for engineering construction products;
10. To develop the cooperation and exchanges with foreign standardization organizations and communications with standardization institutions, and organize the association members to actively attend standardization activities both at home and in abroad;
11. To establish ECS-related technical and economical entities;
12. To provide authorities ECS information and suggestions for them to formulate policies.
